Volunteers at Kettering Railway Station have been reflecting on a decade of hard work and dedication, which has brought a sense of pride and joy to the community. Monica Ozdemir, the civic society secretary for 26 years, has been at the forefront of this initiative, and she couldn't help but express her gratitude and admiration for her fellow volunteers, David and Joy Smith, and Mike Britton. Their collective efforts have helped maintain high standards of architecture and planning in the town, fostering a deep sense of civic pride among residents and visitors alike.
The Kettering Railway Station volunteers have come a long way since they first started. "It's been absolutely fantastic," Ozdemir said. "We even have an exhibition space in our room - it's wonderful to see how it's evolved and grown. We started off with the garden, that wasn't a garden, it was Tarmac and we used a pickaxe to plant roses."
This is a powerful testament to the impact of community initiatives and the difference that dedicated volunteers can make. It's a reminder that even the smallest of projects can have a significant impact, and that with a bit of hard work and creativity, we can all make a difference. So, the next time you see a beautiful garden or a well-maintained public space, remember the Kettering Railway Station volunteers and the joy they've brought to their community.
